In 2020 Trade Skills 4 U launched our unique 4 Steps approach to become an electrician. A new and dynamic way to train as an electrician in a practical, convenient and bespoke way with a blend of cutting edge online, eLearning and in centre electrical training.

The Government may have launched their 4 Steps to freedom but we believe we have the only 4 Steps that truly make sense to get started as an electrician this year. Below we’ve summarised each step in more details and the relevant information you need to get started.

Step 1 – Domestic Electrician Course Package (for beginners, other trades & domestic installers)

This is the entry package and a fantastic launch platform to becoming a domestic electrical installer. This course is ideal for beginners, other trades and existing domestic installers looking for formal qualifications. The course will last 18 days in total and will be delivered via a blend of in centre and online electrical training and eLearning. As part of this course you will cover the following:

  • Week 1 Domestic Installation Workshop (5 days in centre)
  • Week 2 Introduction to Electrical Installation & Part P (2 Days virtual classroom & 3 days eLearning)
  • Week 3 Inspection & Testing (5 Days in centre)
  • Week 4 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (3 days Virtual Classroom & eLearning)

Upon completion of our Step 1 Course, you will have the skills and knowledge necessary to work as a domestic installer and most people who train on this course eventually end up setting up as self-employed electricians.

Step 2 – City & Guilds 2365 Level 2 Diploma

This is step 2 of our 4 steps electrical training programme to become a gold card electrician. This course is designed to bridge the gap between the domestic installer course and the C&G 2365 Level 3 Diploma. Most people will choose to train for Step 2 and Step 3 at the same time and we offer this as a convenient bundle, more information can be found on this page https://www.tradeskills4u.co.uk/courses/2365-course

The C&G 2365 Level 2 diploma course is a 29-day course delivered with a blend of in-centre, virtual classroom and eLearning.

Step 3 – City & Guilds 2365 Level 3 Diploma

Step 3 C&G 2365 Level 3 Diploma is ideal for career progression to be a qualified electrician. In order to complete this course, you will need to have completed the C&G 2365 Level 2 Diploma. Upon completion of both Step 2 and Step 3 of our Electrical course, you will be able to progress to complete the C&G 2357 NVQ Level 3.

This is a 33 days course again delivered with a blend of in-centre training, virtual classroom and eLearning. During this course, you will cover aspects of single and three-phase as well as fault finding.

The City & Guilds 2365 course is the most comprehensive electrical course and it will give you the knowledge and skill necessary to undertake work as a commercial, industrial and domestic electrician.

Step 4 – City & Guilds 2356 NVQ Level 3

The C&G 2356 NVQ Level 3 is the final step to gaining your gold card and the final step of our 4 Steps programme. It can be completed remotely via our online system which will allow you to submit evidence and complete assessments as you study as opposed to the traditional 2 or 3 visits.
