This Electrician’s Course is one of the most recognised qualification of its kind in the UK. The government, ECA, JIB, JTL and Summit skills all recognise it as a robust route to becoming a fully qualified electrician. This qualification is the equivalent to the current City & Guilds 2357 course.
This electricians course is taught in our state of the art training centre by our experienced and specialist electrical teachers.
Entry Requirements / Who’s it for?
This EAL electricians course is open to all. Ideally you will already have 4 GCSE’s including Maths and English. These should be grades A-C. However if you don't there are other methods of assessment you can take. The course will take you right through from the basics to the advanced.
For mature students previous experience will be taken into consideration, however it is important to note that some of the maths on the course can be quite in depth so it is important that you can show good ability in this area.
By funding this course privately it is possible to complete the knowledge units first and then seek employment once these have been completed and then complete your NVQ and AM2 assessments. For many students this makes their skills more appealing to potential employers.

Pricing Options & Costs
The full course consists of 16 weeks in house training with Trade Skills 4U following which you can then complete NVQ assessment with support (3 site visits to assess your performance units) and a final AM2 Assessment (1 Day). If you are paying for this course privately you can pick and choose which elements you take. Please see the matrix below for costs:

Course Dates and Timings
You will receive 16 weeks of on site training at Trade Skills 4U. This can be taken 2 weeks on 2 weeks off over 32 weeks or 1 week a month for 15 months. The following course dates are available:

It is likely that in order to complete the full NVQ and AM2 assessment can take 2-3 years depending on your role and the amount of on the job experience you can get.
EAL Electricians NVQ Course Content:
This electricians course is made up of knowledge units and performance units.
Knowledge Units
Understanding health and safety legislation, practices and procedures (installing and maintaining electrotechnical systems and equipment)
Understanding environmental legislation, working practices and the principles of environmental technology systems
Understanding the practices and procedures for overseeing and organising the work environment (electrical installation)
Understanding the practices and procedures for the preparation and installation of wiring systems and electrotechnical equipment in buildings, structures and the environment
Understanding the principles of planning and selection for the installation of electrotechnical equipment and systems in buildings, structures and the environment
Understanding the principles, practices and legislation for the termination and connection of conductors, cables and cords in electrical systems
Understanding the principles, practices and legislation for the inspection, testing, commissioning and certification of electrotechnical systems and equipment in buildings, structures and the environment
Understanding the principles, practices and legislation for diagnosing and correcting electrical faults in electrotechnical systems and equipment in buildings, structures and the environment
Understanding the electrical principles associated with the design, building, installation and maintenance of electrical equipment and systems
Performance Units to be assessed
Applying health and safety legislation and working practices (installing and maintaining electrotechnical systems and equipment)
Applying environmental legislation, working practices and the principles of environmental technology systems
Overseeing and organising the work environment (electrical installation)
Planning, preparing and installing wiring systems and associated equipment in buildings, structures and the environment
Terminating and connecting conductors, cables and flexible cords in electrical systems
Inspecting, testing, commissioning and certifying electrotechnical systems and equipment in buildings, structures and the environment
Diagnosing and correcting electrical faults in electrical systems and equipment in buildings, structures and the environment
Electrotechnical Occupational Competence
Integral to this qualification is the Electrotechnical Occupational Competence Unit which is assessed by the AM2.
Exams & Assessments:
Throughout the course you will be assessed on each unit above in a variety of ways including:
Knowledge Units: Online multiple choice exams and assignments.
Performance Units: Locally assessed in your workplace.
Completion of Electrotechnical Occupational Competence Unit which is assessed by the AM2 at a centre local to you. We have access to a network of assessment centres across the UK.
