Domestic Installation Workshop

Why do this course?

Over the years that we have been providing electrical training, we’ve found that many people who enroll in our Part P and 18th Edition courses lack the basic electrical installation knowledge that will ensure they get the most from these intensive courses.

With that in mind, we’ve created this bespoke 5-Day Domestic Installation course to take you from having little or no electrical experience through to having the essential grounding and knowledge you’ll need to build an electrical career. This basic understanding will help you to pass the assessments and tests in later courses.

Please watch the explainer video and read all the content below, should you need anymore information or have any questions please give our course advisors a call.

Frequently Asked Questions

GET IN TOUCH
What is the purpose of the SS1A Domestic Installation Workshop?

The purpose of this course is to provide you with the basic knowledge required to perform electrical installations and to enable you to become competent at carrying out domestic installations.

Even after 5 days, you will realise that single-phase wiring is not rocket science and is quite straightforward.

By itself, the SS1A Domestic Installation Workshop does not qualify you to work as a domestic installer. It is intended as an introductory course to be taken with other qualifications (as per our 4 Steps Approved Contractor program) however it will give you the hands-on skills to be able to carry out non-notifiable work or work under supervision with an experienced colleague.

Single-phase wirings such as ring final circuits and radial circuits are easy to get your head around once you start practicing, this course gives you all the skills you need to carry out the first and second fixes.

Our advice would be to practice as much as possible after finishing so it stays fresh in your mind.

We have been phasing out the qualification attached to this course. This allows us to better map the teaching and outcomes to the Diploma which makes up the majority of our 4 steps program.
