Who is this course for?

Note

The course is specifically aimed at practising electricians, electrical technicians and engineers with experience of electrical installations and associated inspection and testing. We strongly recommend candidates undertake our BPEC Solar PV training before attending this course.

Candidates must hold their 18th Edition qualification and must meet one of the following requirements:

  • S/NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation (Buildings and Structures)

OR

  • equivalent earlier certification that includes Inspection & Testing

OR

  • a recognised Part P competence certification that includes Inspection & Testing

OR

  • ECS Gold Card, JIB Electrician or Approved Electrician Card

OR

  • Candidates can also enrol for the course if they meet the requirements of the Electrotechnical Assessment Specification (EAS) or have a minimum 2 years’ experience with demonstrable evidence as well as being a member of a Competent Person Scheme (CPS).

BPEC Battery Storage Course Content

This course gives you the necessary training to install EESS / Battery Storage Systems. The training covers the installation of dedicated electrical energy storage systems (EESS) in accordance with the IET Code of Practice for Electrical Energy Storage Systems. This course is aimed mainly at installations associated with dwellings or small commercial locations.

Topics covered in this qualification include:
  • Understanding the key requirements for the installation of EESS.
  • Understand the equipment, arrangements, and operating modes of EESS.
  • Understand the design requirements for EESS.
  • Be able to prepare for the installation of EESS.
  • Understand the requirements for initial verification and the handover of EESS.
  • Be able to conduct initial verification and the handover of EESS

  • IET Code of Practice for Electrical Energy Storage Systems (2nd Edition) – ISBN-13: 978-1-83953-041-8 (You will be able to refer to this in the exams).

Upon arrival at the Centre, we will provide you with:

  • BPEC Intro Into Electrical Storage Systems Learning Manual.
  • MCS Guide MDG 003 Solar PV Self-Consumption (we provide this to candidates on arrival).
