What is a volt stick?

Our electrical tutors Jay and Andy talk about a non-contact voltage tester and how to use it. A “Volt Stick” lights up whenever we are near a live AC voltage at any point in the electrical installation. It does this by using a built-in sensor at the tip of the tester, when held near an AC voltage it will glow and beep to indicate voltage is present. It is a great piece of equipment to quickly check for live cables by having both audible and visual confirmations. A Volt Stick is often referred to as a Volt Pen, a non-contact voltage detector, a non-contact voltage tester, or even as a volt wand.

They retail anywhere from £7.99 upwards.
