NAPIT and City & Guilds Training – Electrical have joined forces to launch a new initiative that will make it easier for electrical employers to access high-quality, fully funded apprenticeship programmes for new and existing staff.
This partnership is designed to support the development of the electrical workforce by promoting two structured training routes to NAPIT members: the Installation & Maintenance Electrician (C&G 5357) and Domestic Electrician (C&G 5393) apprenticeships. Both programmes are delivered by City & Guilds Training, who will also manage all administration and compliance, ensuring a seamless experience for employers.
NAPIT is one of the UK’s largest Government-approved UKAS-accredited Certification Bodies in the building services and fabric sector, raising standards and safety across the industry and for consumers.
NAPIT will play a key role in raising awareness of the opportunity, referring interested members, and supporting initial engagement by sharing programme information and connecting employers with the City & Guilds Training team. This initiative will help NAPIT members address critical skills shortages in a high-demand sector by simplifying the apprenticeship journey, making it easier to grow their teams and maximise the value of their apprenticeship levy.
Empowering the electrical industry through accessible training
The collaboration aims to remove barriers to training by offering flexible, employer-friendly delivery models and funding support. Apprenticeships are open to anyone aged 16 and over, with no upper age limit, and are suitable for both new hires and existing employees looking to upskill.
Employers can also benefit from a free candidate matching service, connecting them with motivated learners who have already begun their training journey through City & Guilds diploma programmes. These learners may be eligible for accelerated apprenticeship routes, reducing both time and cost.
Key programme features include:
- ECS Apprentice Card included
- Monthly block release model (5 consecutive training days)
- In-centre workshops and online learning
- Personal Training Officer and dedicated teaching team
- End-point assessment via AM2S or AM2D
Funding support:
- Fully funded for apprentices aged 16–22
- SMEs contribute just 5% for apprentices aged 22+
- £1,000 incentive for hiring 16–18-year-olds
- A shared commitment to quality and impact
