BPEC Solar Thermal Hot Water course

With the introduction of the renewable heat incentive installations of solar thermal hot water systems are on the increase. This is set to increase further when the second “domestic” phase of the incentive is rolled out in October 2012.

For a skilled plumber or renewable energy installer, training now will prove to be a very wise investment. We provide solar thermal training in our state of the art renewable energy training centre on specially designed training rigs designed to prepare you for real installations.

Entry Requirements / Who’s it for?

This course is aimed at plumbers or multi skilled workers who have solid experience in plumbing / heating engineering and / or a level 3 NVQ plumbing/heating engineering qualification. Anyone attending this course must have already achieved the following:

Unvented Hot Water

Water Regulations

Part L Energy Efficiency

All of these courses can be taken with Trade Skills 4U.

If you are intending to certify under an MCS scheme then this course will count towards certification for solar thermal technology.

If you do not meet the above criteria you could also consider taking our Non Installers Solar Thermal Course which cover the same content and gives you the same knowledge.

Why take our Solar Thermal training?

This solar thermal hot water course is taught in our state of the art renewable energy training centre. You will trained using specially designed training roofs with real solar thermal panels and tubes. These are connected to the hot water tanks in the rooms below.

This BPEC solar hot water course is a nationally recognized qualification that qualifies for Government incentives. It was the first solar hot water installer’s certificate to be approved by Clear Skies and is also endorsed by BRE Certification.  This course can be used to gain MCS accreditation in Solar Thermal hot water technology.

BPEC Solar Thermal training course content:

The course is a mix of both theoretical classroom based learning and hands on installation training. The course content includes:

Introduction to solar heating

Solar collectors

Hot water storage and key installation issues

Preparing to install a solar water heating system

Fitting solar collectors

Plumbing layout and design of solar water heating systems

Control and power requirements

System commissioning and handover to clients

You will receive hands on training on our training roof's which will be connected to the water tanks below as you would find in the real world.

You will receive a course handbook on the first day of attending the course.

On the final day of this course you will take an open book multiple choice examination
