About Advanced Learning Loans

For the first time, you are entitled to an ‘Advanced Learning Loan’ to cover your course fees – if you are studying at Level 3, and you are aged at least 19 on the first day of your course.

You don’t have to take out a Loan. But its availability means that you can improve your knowledge and skills without needing to pay the course fees upfront. You could decide to pay part of your course fees with a loan and part with your own finances.

Please note: Loan spaces are limited to just 3 people per course. These spaces are allocated on a first come first served basis. If loan spaces are not available we can add you to a wait list in case one does become available.

Most learners aged 19 and over, studying at level 3 and above will qualify for these new loans from the UK Government. It’s easy to apply, your household income is not taken into account and there is no credit check.

The loans can cover the whole cost of the course (should you wish) and are repayable only when you are earning £21,000 per year or above. This means you can pay for your course up front and then pay it back when you are actually earning a decent wage and even if you are earning a decent wage the earliest your payback payments start is April 2016.

The repayment amounts are limited to 9% of anything you earn above £21,000 which means for example if you were earning £22,000 p.a. you would repay £7 per month, or at £25,000 p.a. you would repay £30 per month.

For more information read on or simply call 01293 529777 and a course advisor can talk your through it.

More about the Advanced Learning Loans

The loan doesn’t depend on your income and there are no credit checks.

You don't have to borrow the full cost of the course. The minimum loan you can get is £300 and for our Level 3 2365 Course the maximum amount you can borrow is £3245 (The total cost of the course)

Once you application is successful the money is paid directly to us so you don't have worry about making payment.

Repaying Your Loan

Repayments don’t start until April 2016. You pay back your loan (plus interest) when you finish your course and are earning more than £21,000 a year. Your repayments will stop if your income drops below £21,000 a year.

Your monthly repayment amount will be 9% of any income you earn over £21,000.

Example Repayments

Your repayments would be:

£7 a month - if you earned £22,000 a year

£30 a month - if you earned £25,000 a year

Which Courses Do the Loans Apply To?

You can apply for a Advanced Learning Loan to help with the costs of our City & Guilds 2365 Level 3 Diploma in Electrical Installation as long as you will be 19 or older when you start the course. We offer a Level 2 & 3 2365 Course package which means you can get a loan for the level 3 part of the course.

The full cost of the Level 3 2365 Course can be paid for with the loan which stands at £3245 for 6 weeks training. At present the full Level 2 & 3 2365 Course costs £7490. This means that you can pay for the first 10 Weeks by instalments and then the rest with your student loan.

How to Apply

Best thing to do is simply give us a call on 01293 529777 and we will check your eligibility. As long as you are eligible we will issue you a ‘Learning and funding information’ letter which you will need to complete the application. It contains the details about the City & Guilds 2365 course and our details so the loan can be processed against our course.

Once you have received your letter you can then apply online here - you’ll need to register first.

If you can’t apply online you can download the forms below and apply by post, however this will take longer to process.

Download ‘Application form’ (PDF, 300KB)

Download ‘Guidance notes’ (PDF, 100KB)

Download ‘Terms and conditions’ (PDF, 250KB)

Download ‘Data protection statement’ (PDF, 75KB)

You’ll then get a letter confirming your loan - usually within 2 weeks if you apply online.

Also please note that once you start your course you will need to complete some further paperwork and online assessments to test your maths, english and ICT skills.
