Frequently Asked Questions

GET IN TOUCH
Can I split the weeks up?

This course can be completed 2 weeks on, 2 weeks off.

If you would like to discuss flexible options give us a call on 01293 529777 with your preferred dates.

Yes, you can. You will need to pay a deposit and we can arrange interest-free instalments over the length of your course.

Our L2 and L3 Diploma course will give you fundamental knowledge to kick-start your electrical training. After the Diploma Level 3 you can choose to work with an electrician or you can continue your electrical training to become fully qualified. To become a qualified electrician you will need to complete your NVQ, including your AM2 assessment. At this point, you will be recognised as a qualified electrician and eligible to apply for an ECS Gold Card.

Many electricians join competent person schemes (CPS) as it is usually a more convenient and cost-effective way to notify Building Control of completed work. You can undertake notifiable and non-notifiable work without being registered with a CPS and whilst there are obvious business benefits to joining such schemes, they are not mandatory.

You will not be able to join a CPS until you have completed your training including NVQ and AM2.

The best way to get experience is to work with a local electrician or business. If you find suitable employment during any stage of your training don’t forget you can switch to our funded apprenticeship route.

When you have completed your Diploma Level 3 you may choose to:

  • Work with an electrician. The skills you have gained will make you useful and able to carry out many tasks under supervision.
  • Gain employment and switch to a funded apprenticeship to complete your portfolio.
  • Gain employment and complete the NVQ and AM2 assessment of competence.

On completion of the Level 3 Diploma you may also wish to consider one of our bolt-on courses such as:
