Electrical Taster Courses for Young People
Choosing a career is one of the most important decisions you will make in your life. At Trade Skills 4U we understand that committing to a 3 year apprenticeship could be daunting if you’re not 100% certain that this is the right career path for you.
This alone is the main reason we run regular short courses and taster weeks to enable young people, like you, with some core experience in the world of electrical installation. Our taster weeks aim to give you a sample of the industry by detailing what is involved in an electrical career and all about gaining hands on experience.
We also run one day taster sessions now and again which can you can bring friends or parents to which aims to give you a sample of what the taster week entails. For information and dates on these, please check our events page.
On these short taster courses you will learn the following:
Background to electrical contracting
Different career paths
Overview of electro technical science
Basic health and safety regulations
Basic Wiring regulations
Some hands on installation skills for domestic installation
Take part in a practical workshop
The taster weeks are designed to introduce you to the market, the science, some of the theory and hands on skills that will be required every day working as an electrician or a domestic installer.

Our first apprenticeship taster week starts on 13th February 2012 and will cost £120.00 for 5 days training.
In order to attend an electrical training taster week you must be:
1. Between 16 - 19 years old.
2. Interested in training as an electricians apprentice
3. Able to commit to a full week's training Monday – Friday, 9.00am-4.00pm.
