This energy efficiency training course is primarily aimed at plumbers but could be useful for others including gas engineers and renewable energy installers.
You will need to be City & Guilds Level 2 (6129) qualified in order to take this course.
Why take this Part L - Energy Effiiciency Course?
This energy efficiency training course is mainly focused on heating & hot water controls, insulation and energy saving for the home. After attending this course a plumber will be able to advise customers on the efficiency of their controls, confirm if their controls meet current standards and advise them if they need to upgrade.
You will also learn to correctly size replacement boilers and give advice to customers on how best to conserve their household energy.
You will learn about the Part L building regulations and this course will prepare you to self certify your work. Your certification will be recognised by GasSafe, The Energy Efficiency and Partnership for Homes. This will increase the range of services that you can offer.
Building regulations require that all plumbers fitting condensing boilers should be compliant with document L. This course will also contribute to MCS approval should you seek it.
Part L Course Content:
This course is classroom based and covers the following key areas:
Environmental Awareness
Part L Building Regulation and its associated legislation.
Central Heating Specification contained in Part L.
Boiler sizing and whole house boiler sizing methods for houses and flats.
Importance of SEDBUK when choosing a new boiler.
Principles of a condensing boiler.
Minimum standards for the installation or replacement of hot water cylinders.

Exams & Qualifications
There is an open book multiple choice exam at the end of the day. Following the completion of this course you will receive an NICEIC card and an NICEIC Part L certificate.
As such please ensure you bring 2 passport photo’s with you on the courses.
