    About 17th Edition Courses

We have numerous 17th edition courses available to book online. Check out all the start dates in the right hand panel. Please note that the City & Guilds 2382-10 and 2382-20 courses have been discontinued. This is now the most up to date 17th edition course you can take.

Entry Requirements for this 17th Edition Training Course

There are no formal entry requirements for candidates undertaking this 17th Edition qualification. However, centres must ensure that candidates have the potential and opportunity to successfully gain the qualification. It is expected that candidates will have basic knowledge of electrical science.

    Why take this course?

This course is suitable for practising electricians, domestic installers and other allied professionals as stated above. The City & Guilds 2382 - 12 may also be suitable for anyone requiring an understanding of BS 7671 (17th Edition regs), although prior knowledge in basic electrical science is useful.

This is the latest 2382-12 course containing the latest amendments to the 17th edition wiring regulations. This course now replaces the City & Guilds 2382-10 qualification.

It is intended to ensure that on completion individuals are conversant with the format, content and the application of the Requirements for Electrical Installations BS 7671: 2008 (Green 17th edition book).

    City & Guilds 2382 - 12 Course Content:

The course consists of classroom instruction and culminates in a multiple choice online test covering the underpinning knowledge relating to the content and application of BS 7671 17th Edition.

The exam is 'open book', which means that during the two hour exam you will be able to refer to the 17th edition book.

There are eight units that make up the course relating to Parts 1-7 and the Appendices of BS 7671:2008:

    Scope, object and fundamental principles.

    Definitions

    Assessment of general characteristics

    Protection for safety

    Selection and erection of equipment

    Inspection and testing

    Special installations or locations

    Appendices

    Including the new sections:

    Medical locations

    Operating and Maintenance Gangways

    Books required:

Requirements for electrical Installations 17th Edition ISBN No. 978-1849192699 (The Green Book)

We do sell the books in the centre and you can also find them in your local library. It is advisable that these books are purchased as they will be used in your day to day job once you have completed the course.

    What's Next?

After completing this qualification we recommend:

    City & Guilds 2377-22 & 2377-32 PAT Testing Course

City & Guilds 2391-10 Inspection & Testing Courses

City & Guilds 2399 FULL Solar PV Course

Updating from 16th Edition with 17th Edition Courses

The new City and Guilds 2382 wiring regulations do not hugely differ from the 16th edition regulations. Those who have had the current 16th Edition since June 2001 will simply have to complete a quick 1 day 17th Edition Update Course to obtain the qualification.
